Greetings OHHS Classmates!  4/22/14

You never know who you'll run into at Panera's in Venice Florida

About  2 weeks ago there's a large group of cyclists sitting at the table.  I talked to the group and as I was talking one guy says "I know that voice!"  I said "who are you?"  He stated, "I'm Steve Kemperman"  I said, "No you're not!...let me see some I.D. ;-)"

Sure enough it was good ol' Kemp.  For those that didn't know him @ Ottawa (only 11th & 12th grade) he was an outstanding athlete.  He was All City in football and had half the total yardage in the win over C.C. October of '62 and was M.V.P along with
Gordy Mendels.

Steve was All American at Grand Rapids Junior College and went on to play football at Missouri.

He worked at GRJC under swim & assistant football coach Dave Clark, and in his last 12 years was the Athletic Director there.

He has 2 boys 39 & 36 and 6 grandchildren.  He winters in Englewood FL and up north in GR area.

He's never been to any reunions, but I talked him into coming
to our 55th, now that I know where he lives ;-)

He looks like he could still play ball.  "No way Steve added, I've had both knees and hips replaced!"

Great seeing you Kemp.  Click on photo to enlarge...

  1. A serious WOW factor here! Very cool, Bob. A delightful encounter and great photos! (Did you tell him that we'll most likely get together for the 55th?)
