Jim Long, age 70, brother of Barb Long Mendels, passed away on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 2, 2014). Jim graduated from Ottawa Hills in 1962. He attended Grand Rapids Junior College, then enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in London for 3 years working in Intelligence and Communications.
In 1966, he married Pat Bowl from Creston HS. They had 2 sons, Jim Jr and Patrick. Jim is also leaving behind his precious granddaughter, Seren Michelle.
After receiving his accounting degree from Ferris University, Jim worked a few years for Michigan Gas Co and obtained his CPA. He moved to FremontMichigan, where he was comptroller for Gerber Baby Foods. For his last 10 years, Jim started his own CPA firm until he retired.
